New Condos on 104st

Condos on 104st Edmonton

FOX Towers on Edmonton’s 104th Street

Huge news for the trendiest block in downtown Edmonton! The ever hip 104 street will be completing it’s revitalization with the addition of two new high rises, happily named, the Fox Towers.

The new condo building come courtesy of the developers behind ICON 1 and 2, and there’s high hopes of breaking ground later this 2012. This is of course great news for residence of the downtown neighbourhood, as the population density grows, large, empty parking are swiped aside, the streets look more welcoming and best of all… the market goes up. Everyone wins.

In keeping with modern take on old fashioned brick buildings lining 104 street, the two new towers will be modelled to fit right in, with a brick and glass facade.
CBC Canada had the chance to sit down with the developer:

“It’s equally attractive if not more attractive,” said Langham Developments president Reza Mostashari. “ICON plays with a lot of curves on the balconies and the structure. Here we try to make them look interesting, but playing with more angles.”

The 27 and 32-storey towers will combine retail shops on the ground level, with office space above and condos on top, a total of 320 units.
“I love that street when I first started to spend some time there a few years ago,” said Mostashari. “I just thought it had some interesting vibe to like restaurants, retail stores so, hopefully, ICON added to that.

“I love to continue to make it better.”

Mostashari believes there is enough demand for more condos downtown.

“This is probably the best location for a condo building downtown,” he said. “Our pricing has to be aggressive, it has to have good design, good finishes.

“I think if you meet all those attributes, hopefully, the market will respond.” You can see the full story here.

I have little doubt that the market will respond favourable to the new development. After all 104 is a wonderful anomaly in Edmonton’s core, a thriving neighbourhood feel in an otherwise 9-5 environment.
